The president, along with daughters Sasha and Malia, senior adviser David Axelrod, longtime Chicago friend Eric Whitaker and brother-in-law Konrad Ng, made a surprise appearance at the Washington Nationals game Friday night, where rookie phenom pitcher Stephen Strasburg made his third start, facing off again Obama’s Chicago White Sox. Also spotted with the president were Senior Adviser David Axelrod and Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.).
Obama, wearing a Sox cap, left during the 9th innning of a game Chicago finally took 2-1 in the 11th inning.
The appearance was relatively low-key, the AP reports, with none of the special security measures that were in place in April when Obama threw out the opening day pitch for the Nats.
