The Massachusetts Senate passed a far-reaching crackdown on illegals and those who hire them, going further than any immigration bill over the past five years. The amendment to the Mass budget, would bar the state from doing business with companies breaking federal laws; would toughen penalties for creating or using fake ID’s, and explicitly deny illegals in-state college tuition; would require public health insurers to verify residency through DHS, and would give legal residents priority for subsidized housing. Most immigrants are in Mass legally, but an estimated 190,000, or 20%, are illegal, according to the census.
