Telegraph:Barack Obama’s running on borrowed time
When I was watching St Barack on the campaign trail in 2008 I was struck by two things: his extreme plausibility, rooted in a great rhetorical style and the fact he was not George W Bush, and his apparent incapacity to make the link between promising to do things and actually doing them.
The latter is now manifestly obvious, and was not least why his party was spanked in the Massachusetts election this week. Americans aren’t stupid. The country is crushed by debt, yet St Barack’s only answer (rather like Gordon Brown’s) is to borrow and spend more.
