Islam In Action:Canadian Islamic Newspaper Sent Apologies to Jewish Canadians About Fabricated Story (Canadian Jews import 25,000 children for their organs)

Al-Ameen Post, an Islamic community newspaper that recently ran an article accusing Jews of bringing into Israel “some 25,000 Ukrainian children” to harvest their organs, has issued a public statement of apology directed to B’nai Brith Canada. The statement, which was faxed to B’nai Brith Canada and prominently featured on Al-Ameen’s web site, was titled “To Our Fellow Jewish Canadians – Our Apologies.”

B’nai Brith Canada had condemned the Al-Ameen Post after the article was reprinted in its entirety from Press TV, the official mouthpiece of the terrorist-sponsoring Iranian regime.

In its statement to B’nai Brith, Al-Ameen acknowledged that “the leading Canadian Jewish organization, is not pleased with the content of the article, and have asked for an apology” and that “the editorial board of al-Ameen Post, without prejudice, extends its honest and sincere apology to our fellow Jewish Canadians for any hurt which may have been caused by us publishing or communicating such a news article.” Nevertheless, the statement went on to say that “defending our news article at this juncture would mean causing further divide in our harmonious multicultural fabric, which goes against our own values.”

In its original press release, B’nai Brith Canada called upon the BC Muslim Association to take action as well. A National Post blog had called Al Ameen the “house journal” of the Association. According to Al-Ameen’s own web site, its editorial board members were also members of the British Columbia Muslim Association executive board. Since this story came out, that claim was removed from the site. In an email to B’nai Brith Canada, the BC Muslim Association claimed that it has no links to Al-Ameen,” although, according to a public statement made by Al-Ameen, “our editorial board members may also be members of the BCMA. In fact, Musa Ismail, the association’s vice-president of planning and development, is also a member of the newspaper’s editorial board.

Furthermore, Salomon Rayek, B’nai Brith Canada’s chair in BC, witnessed the newspaper with the blood libel being disseminated at several local BCMA-affiliated mosques and Muslim-owned stores.

Frank Dimant, CEO of B’nai Brith Canada, said, “We are still very concerned about the fact that an established Islamic organization such as BCMA has not apologized to the Jewish community for the distribution of the antisemitic blood libel published in Al-Ameen, which was disseminated in mosques operated by BCMA.

“This hideous blood libel against the Jewish community has absolutely no place in Canada or anywhere else,” Dimant said. “It should be a matter for public outcry that the BC Muslim Association, a major Canadian Islamic entity with eight mosques and government-funded schools under its auspices, is behind Al-Ameen and its ravings.

“It is a truly sad comment on the state of inter-communal affairs in Canada to see such despicable material being printed in Canada by an established Islamic organization. Every time we witness such vile propaganda, we wait and hope to hear a chorus of voices from within the Islamic community rise up and express their disapproval at the antisemitism and anti-Western sentiment emanating from elements of their own community.”

Questions asked by B’nai Brith Canada remain unanswered “Were the young students in BC government-funded schools operated by BCMA exposed to the antisemitic blood libel in Al-Ameen? Will BCMA call on the prayer leaders in their mosques and the principals of their schools to inform their congregants and students that this incendiary blood libel is a lie? What action has the BCMA taken regarding the role of its vice-president of planning and development, Musa Ismail, a man who everyone can acknowledge is one of the three editorial board members of Al-Ameen?”

“Responsibility for this blood libel against the Jewish people rests, at least to some degree, with the BCMA. They must take concrete steps to alleviate the damage that has been done by this despicable article and to combat the anti-Jewish hatred that they helped disseminate to the BC Islamic community.”
