Weep for America: “Obamacare Page 838″: Government would educate parents on child behavior and parenting skills
Dirty secret No. 1 in Obamacare is about the government’s coming into homes and usurping parental rights over child care and development.
It’s outlined in sections 440 and 1904 of the House bill (Page 838), under the heading “home visitation programs for families with young children and families expecting children.” The programs (provided via grants to states) would educate parents on child behavior and parenting skills.
The bill says that the government agents, “well-trained and competent staff,” would “provide parents with knowledge of age-appropriate child development in cognitive, language, social, emotional, and motor domains … modeling, consulting, and coaching on parenting practices,” and “skills to interact with their child to enhance age-appropriate development.”

But wait, I thought they were talking about visiting the homes of poor minority people who are clueless about how to teach their children how to behave. If our schools can’t do it or we don’t want them to, what’s so bad about helping these people learn how to make healthy life choices. Like not spending their welfare money on fast food and drugs? Like teaching their children to do their homework? Is the idea that we just let those kids fall through the cracks and wind up in prison?
With all of the problems now with secret hearings that take children away from their parents without any actual evidence. With abuse happening in foster care. With the states passing or considering passing laws that stop parents from spanking children who act out and then when the problem grows put them into juvenile hall.
Maybe we need to repent for our silence. We said nothing then we should have.
