Republicans, analysts question Obama’s foreclosure plan

Already, top Republicans want several questions answered, an early sign that Obama may once again face stiff opposition to the plan when it comes before Congress. Last week, not one House Republican voted for his economic stimulus package, and only three GOP senators voted for the bill.

• What will your plan do for the over 90 percent of homeowners who are playing and paying by the rules?

• Does your plan compensate banks for bad mortgages they should have never made in the first place?

• Will individuals who misrepresented their income or assets on their original mortgage application be eligible to get the taxpayer funded assistance under your plan?

• Will you require mortgage servicers to verify income and other eligibility standards before modifying mortgages?

• What will you do to prevent the same mortgages that receive assistance and are modified from going into default three, six or eight months later?

• How do you intend to move forward in the drafting of the legislation and who will author it?

Republicans will question Jesus Christ if he came down to tell them how bad they are messing up the country.

We are in an economic disaster, and remedy will not be painless. Instead of complaining that the medicine tastes bad, Republicans need to offer an alternative plan and argue that theirs is better. Then we can have a serious debate. At this point we have one plan–Obama’s– and it may be the best possible. This “party of no” posture is tiring and it makes me question their sincerity about helping this country. Republicans, it ain’t about you guys, it’s about America!

Please tell me about Republicain proposing something to fix the mess they created . Is that all they can do . Questionning, opposing? Where were they at for the last 8 years. Now the GOP representatives and senators want to be on every major TV network station, screaming bloody murder, . Stop yelling, and go do your job, and if you have differentiate opinions, fine, be a professional and express your thoughts, ask questions if need be, and if you really creativity, please come up with a solution. PS.-big tax cuts does not work-prime ex. the last 8 years.
I, especially love the comment about how much damage Pres. Obama has got us “TRUE
AMERICANS” in.It him took approximately one month for him to move forward enormous stimulus bill to help struggling families and businesses. What has bush and company done? Nothing. I tell you what he has done, “BUSH AND COMPANY HAD 8 YEARS to DAMAGE OUR AMERICA” Pres. Obama is going need all 8 years to fix Pres.Bush’s mess. and alot of money. So deal with it. These are hard times. We need to come together and collaborate on better ideas for America, instead social hate groups and uninformed individuals spreading lies instead of coming up with solutions. Bush and company had their time. Please allow someone with a brain and sense of direction to move the country in forward and positive way. I want our president to succeed.
We are all americans! We have one president, you did have not agree with him, but be respectful and not so hateful

I like the stimulus package. I know something has to be done and quick. I also did vote for Obama, even though I am registered as a Republican. This I have an issue with. I was approved to buy a house outside my means, but I didn’t. I waited until I could afford a 20% down payment. With my wife and I looking to purchase a home this summer, we will get screwed. Old school responsible planning is going to work against us. If you bought over your means, you took the risk, I say forget you. Forget the overstretched buyers and the risky banks. They gambled and lost, I shouldn’t have to pay for that with less homes to look at and higher taxes over time.

Hey angelcali….where in H did you get your stupid information from about Bush and the Republicans creating this financal mess? Go back two years ago when the Dems took over the House and Senate, they started this mess by FORCEING the banking idustry to give housing loans to anyone that wanted one. They did not care if you could afford the loan or not, just that EVERYONE should have a house. The Republicans were the ones trying to prevent these types of STUPID GIVE AWAY policies, but the DEMS who were in charge WOULD NOT LISTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, go back and look at how the economy grew during the six years Bush and the Republicans were in control, then compair the last two years when the DEMS took over. GET YOUR INFOMATION STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU RUN YOUR LIBERAL MOUTH. I hope this SPENDULOUS Bill fails, we do not need the Government owning or running private business. I for one would love to have more of my TAX dollars in my pocket to spend the way i want to instead of giving it to the government. You must be one of those Kool Aide drinkers who thought that Obama was going to put gas in your car, make your house payment, put food on your table, give you spending money. I pray that this man does not make it past four years, or my kids and everyone else’s will not have a future except for working to pay taxes so that those that don’t want to work can continue to sit on their LAZY butts.

The republican party appears to be split in 2. The DC Belt Way crew have become the party of No. They are obstructionists and appear to have only their political ideology in mind. I have yet to see one salient, realistic counter plan to the stimulus or now the mortgage proposal that Obama presented yesterday. It is not only sad, but damaging as they play russian roulette with the gun pointed at our heads. Interestingly, the republicans in state and local posts have been more engaging. They voice their opinions, not always the same as Obama’s, but they are engaged and agree with the direction taken with the administration. They have skin in the game, face these issues, like we do, everyday. We have to un-seat the republicans in DC…McCain, Shelby, Cantor, etal

Republicans are the party of no. I honestly think they want to see President Obama fail and if he fails then America fails. I would guess they want to see more homes in foreclosure so that big buyers can snap up these homes and make a killing off other’s misery and then we would see whole neighborhoods, schools and businesses fail, more people on the street, and possibly anarchy. I support President Obama 100% and I know that he is doing what he can with the mess he was handed from the disastrous bush years.

Lazy, liberal, losers: Obama won that’s a fact, but he has to represent ALL of us, not just Demoncrats. He has to listen to the loyal opposition and include us in the debate, as well as policy-making. Why? Because he spends OUR money, because he is president of the United States, not the Democratic States. Republicans have proposed reasonable changes to the so-called stimulus bill; THAT’S THEIR JOB AND WHAT THEY WERE ELECTED FOR! Obama and crew were forced to incorporate some - and promptly took credit! We don’t have to abrogate our constitutional rights to engage in the body politic. Only you sophmoric, liberal morons hew to that party line. The demoncrats didn’t fold when Republicans held power, neither will we. GET USED TO IT. That’s the way the US system works.

All of the people screaming that it is unfair that just because they are paying thier morgage on time the others should not get help, are the same types of people that would take money from the government and by jets and run off to vacation spots. The same people who are so driven by money that they will ruin the lives of seniors at or near retirement by bilking them out of thier life savings so they can by 30k watches and 200k cars. If you are comfortable and paying your morgage on time, good. I have always been taught not to begrudge anyone having trouble, because …but for the grace of God, thouse troubles could become mine. Are all of those people so secure in thier positions that they cannot lose a job or have a catostrphic medical issue. It is simply another example of the American mantra… jealosy, envy and greed. It is alright to send billions to foriegn lands, but the first time a President makes a bold move to help Americans in trouble, it is swiftly met with resistance. Typical.

Unreal.
We who are complaining that it is unfair for us to pay for others homes, are not wealthy, looking to buy our next 200K car or or next vacation. We are middle class working individuals who have had it with the handouts. When do you take responsibility for yourself? When do you realize that tax dollars aren’t meant to be give aways? What happened to the America where you worked and got ahead, or you bought a busines and if it worked, great, if not, it closed? Where is any level of responsiblity at all? And while you are critizing those of us who realize that the person who just elected will now make my grandkids and most likely their kids pay money back we never had to give away, try and figure out the amount of interest per day on $788 billion dollars? I wonder if the principal will ever be hit, how do you make money when you borrow it at a higher rate than the return? Good luck, until 2012. Stop blaming republicans when democrats ran the house and senate for the past two years, get a grip on yourself and realize your party is as much to blame. Why did this wonderful package have to be put through so fast, could it be so no one really read it? Obama was sounding like a used car salesman with this package, I hope it doesn’t run like one!

Republicans are a curious group. They have no plans of their own, but always ready to shoot down someone else plan. Their push to deregulate everything over the years has ultimately lead to the crises that we face now, so why should we even listen to them. My advise to Republicans is simple, either come up with some ideas of your own or shut up. I think most Americans are tired of hearing you flap your gums, with nothing really to say. Either be part of the solution, or you are part of the problem.

TERM LIMITS!!!!

We need term limits. That will stop everybody from acting as if they are in re-election mode every day. With term limits maybe they would do what is good and right for the Country, not for themselves.

Republicans need to get their act together. They are for nothing but big business and rich people, not poor people who are the ones who need the government to assist them.
