Bombshell:Obama in His Own Words - “Hispanic cannot expand by taking African-American seats”

When the 2000 census revealed dramatic growth in Chicago’s Hispanic and Asian populations alongside a decline in the number of African Americans, the Illinois black caucus was alarmed at the prospect that the number of blacks in the Illinois General Assembly might decline. At that point, Obama stepped to the forefront of the effort to preserve as many black seats as possible. The Defender quotes Obama as saying that, while everyone agrees that the Hispanic population has grown, they cannot expand by taking African-American seats.”

Obviously Latinos, or the Hispanic population, cannot expand by taking AA seats. They expand by biological means or by moving to an area and then take seats from other groups if they expand enough in accordance with the Constitution, etc.

Not his most enlightened statement.

A comment coming from Los Angeles - the relationship between the two groups (Latino/Afro-Americans) are not very good, and this goes to very deep resents. Locally, the afro-Americans have been demographically pushed aside - political and social consequences obvious (in his Chicago comment Obama was referring at this.) As far as the current political cycle, apparently Obama has transcended Hillary’s popularity and now has a solid Latino following (at least the Democrat machine & establishment). However, this is due in a large degree to the fact that the RNC/McCain see (as it always happened), California as a lost cause for republicans, so they make no effort to counter-campaign here.

Why do you say it is a lost cause for Republicans? We have a Republican Governor, Ronald Reagan was our Governor twice.
Ya’ll just don’t take the time to campaign here, you drop into town for fundraisers. Actually we have some very serious Republican strongholds, most of Orange County. I believe the closer to the border you are the more you tend to be conservative. I guess I am a moderate Democrat, I don’t like for any administration to have full control. Its very dangerous, there needs to be a split so there is accountability. The Dems have the majority in congress and have done nothing constructive with this gift from the voters. I’ll be supporting John McCain, I like a president to have some experience in life, and politics.

I lived with, worked with Hispanics my whole life. I keep thinking about a focus group I saw during the Nevada primary when all the polls said Obama was going to win the state. The unions had just come out in his support. A hispanic worker stood up and said she would guarantee that Obama would not win Nevada - she was angry, she was correct. Blacks balme Hispanics for taking jobs, they have gone to war with them in the streets. There is a lot of animosity.

The truth of the matter is that the Hispanic/Latio community views America differently than the African American community does. Hispanics have a strong work ethic, it’s all about the joy in having an opportunity - they work hard and are glad for the chance to do so. Hispanics are also very Patriotic, they often join the military to aid the path of citizenship. They may not be crazy about the Republican party and the nut cases who are so anti-Hispanic but they also know that John McCain has always been their advocate - he has worked for reasonable paths to citizenship with true understanding of the immigration problems. Those anti-immigration guys are also anti-McCain guys.

I suspect that McCain will do better than many suspect in the Hispanic/Latino community - particularly with the older voters.

What’s the entire quote?…

Kibby:
When you say “Hispanics have a strong work ethic” (which we do), and “Hispanics are also very patriotic” (which we are)are you implying that African-Americans do not/are not?

The hispanics may have to earn their place in the community……..All the blacks have gotten there through affirmative action…..

…if you look at the values of latino voters they really should be voting for mccain but voting traditions run deep…obama usually throws the blacks under the bus…he honestly has no idea what it is to be a black american…and if he throws them under the bus and his grandmother and his pastor and he won’t protect live births then hispanics should not expect him to do anything for them either…but with the MEDIA in his camp it is very hard to make serious direct contact with that group(now obama has totally lied in an ad to the hispanics…he does to just create “fear”) or almost any group for that matter–BRING ON THE DEBATES

I believe that hispanics are mostly catholics. Catholics do not beleive in abortion and they are very hard workers and patriotic. I seriously think they will be voting for McCain. Obama supports abortion and is in favor of killing babies that are born alive. Thats a fact.

Mr. Obama–surely you’re not a racist, are you?

Good work guys.

I hope McCain takes advantage of this and runs with it.
