Bill Clinton: McCain ‘A Great Man’; Praises Wife’s, Not Obama’s Economic Plan
BC News’ Jennifer Parker reports: Former President Bill Clinton has largely kept himself out of the public eye since his wife lost the Democratic primary to Barack Obama.However in a rare television interview tonight the former president called Republican presidential candidate John McCain “a great man” and praised GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin as an “instinctively effective candidate.” However, Clinton, said there could still be “some unforeseen development,” perhaps in the debates, he said, that could threaten a Democratic win.
On a day when Obama sought to convince voters that he’s best able to handle the economic crisis, the former president said it was his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-NY, who gave today “the most detailed position.”
In an interview with CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo, Clinton, who has tried to put to rest rumors of tensions between himself and Obama said, “I’ve never concealed my admiration and affection for Senator McCain. I think he’s a great man.
“But, I think on the issues that matter to our future, the Obama-Biden team is, is more right,” Clinton said of the Democratic ticket. “And I believe they’re gonna win. But, I think that it will be competitive until the end.”

Bill Clinton said a great deal more than has been widely
reported and that is shocking, because it is worth hearing
and the American Public needs to hear what he has to say.
His comments on Hillary Clinton’s economic response plan
were accurate. Her plan is professional and shows that she
has the intellectual capacity to grasp the fundamental
elements that must be dealt with in order to get the
economy back on track which is far more difficult than
anything Obama can say or think. All he says is that he
thinks that the investment bankers should be helped as well
as Main Street. He is like the character in the Wizard of
Oz who didn’t have a brain. No wonder he and George
Bush are on the same page when the chips are down, they
have no brain in common. We need Hillary Clinton right
about now, she is able to do the right thing, say the right thing and is not part of that Paulson Bernanke Brigade
who are on the verge of robbing us blind and everyone
is just looking the other way. Listen to what Bill Clinton is saying then take in Hillary’s speech last week
in Congress which you can listen to on her Senator Hillary
Clinton site and you will see that they are really great
folk for times like this, they have weathered many storms
and they know how to deal with them and they are tested
and the world leaders know them and like them because they’re not stupid. Putin and Medvedev are not stupid
and they are the two people in the world who can work things out with us if we can only get a proper representative from the US to sit down with them and figure
out a solution to all this which can be put into practice and work for the next era, the nuclear age, and the age in
which the third world can be developed and the developed nations can regain their standard or living and share their

My opinion? Both Bill and Hillary will X McCain’s box on the ballot. Chelsea? She’ll write in Hillary.
