BREAKING:MSNBC drops Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews from anchor chair
MSNBC tried a bold experiment this year by putting two politically incendiary hosts, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, in the anchor chair to lead the cable news channel’s coverage of the election.
That experiment appears to be over.
After months of accusations of political bias and simmering animosity between MSNBC and its parent network NBC, the channel decided over the weekend that the NBC News correspondent and MSNBC host David Gregory would anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night. Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews will remain as analysts during the coverage.
The change — which comes in the home stretch of the long election cycle — is a direct result of tensions associated with the channel’s perceived shift to the political left.
“The most disappointing shift is to see the partisan attitude move from prime time into what’s supposed to be straight news programming,” said Davidson Goldin, formerly the editorial director of MSNBC and a co-founder of the reputation management firm DolceGoldin.

Matthews gone, i’m getting a thrill running up my leg, wow this is great, if he’ gets senate in Pa., it’s because Obama wants a thrill also, he has to be the biggest ass for a newsman.
No kidding. This is real news about fake and biased news. How often does that happen?
Who knows: Maybe they’ll yank Olbermann completely off the air? One can always hope.
While I agree this is good news, its not really that much of a change. David Gregory has proven himself to be a partisan hack as well. Tingly Leg Guy and Worst Person in the World Guy still get to flap their lips as analysts.
A good start - still lots more “deprograming” to do. Doesn’t matter - don’t watch it anymore after last week’s hazing!
Oh yeah! Great Post, Anyway, Good, a just reward for two major screw ups. They may even face a pay cut within the Obama campaign. I better clarify for those drinking too much Obama Kool-aid, Yeah I know they don’t actually work for the Obama campaign at least not proven or officially, but they may as hell well, they gave the Messiah mega doodles of major free advertising with the most blatant bias coverage I have ever witnessed. They would even make Dan Rather turn over in his grave, Hey wait isn’t he still alive? Just haven’t heard much from him in this election cycle. Well Dan Rather may be stretching it oh well at least I know Obama really is Muslim now, I heard it right from his very own lips in an ABC interview. Do you know the difference between a hockey mom and Obama? Answer, A hockey mom is much more qualified to be President. If you answered lipstick that answer was wrong. Obama does in deed wear lip stick. Little Richard Pink.
Well this is good news, however, they have just given that uber-liberal Rachel Maddow a show on MSNBC. She is just as bad as any of them so am unsure if the network has truly learned their lesson yet.
Don’t think for a minute the decision to pull Matthews and Oldermann is due to a sudden epiphany of ethics. It’s solely because they have tanked in the ratings. It’s called self preservation. Maybe this will be a wake-up call for the media in general. The public is fed up and they are making their anger known. I wouldn’t be surprised if the MSNBC ratings are worse than the do-nothing congress.
So glad to see these two rabid big mouths gone. This is what happens when you let hatred consume you.
Olbermann? Matthews? Are those two jerks still in the broadcasting business? I haven’t watched MSNBC for the last 8 months. Who cares!
I guess somebody took Olberman into that shed, and he was the one who didn’t come out.

Olbermann and Mathews will still be the main guys at MSNBC, they will just have to say “Thanks, Dave” a lot. MSNBC is trying to increase the credibility in a cynical move to put a hard news anchor between their Obama cheerleaders and facts. I give David Gregory a month before he realizes his credibility is going into the toilet with the just of the bunch.

Look I don’t care what the news reports, as long as they present both sides of the issues.
It seems a shame that such talented journalists have been removed. Despite a few messups, they were two of a small band who didn’t lean to the far Right. I guess there will be no more balancing forces now, with only the haters and the nay-sayers in charge of all the corporatep-owned media in these United States. We will all be subjected to the blithering idiots of talk-radio and the obviously biased ABC and the like. OR WE CAN TURN OFF OUR TVs AND RADIOS, and learn to think for ourselves. These times are tricky, folks. We do not want a repeat of the last eight years.
They both should be fired! especially Matthews who is scared of strong women, just like all the Obamakin cronies at CNN…there is NO good news media anymore its all cable tabloid TV pundits tryig to shove their bosses political opinions at viewers. Viewers have become more intelligent in fact finding, is why Obama winphrey is loosing
I am the revengeful type so if this move damages Olberman and Matthews in any manner and if they feel slighted, that pleases me.
However, we should not discount the damaging effect (ie positive) they had upon MSNBC reputation and upon the libs’ morale (yes, there is such a thing like honest liberal), and conversely, the rallying effect upon reps & conservatives in matters regarding media.
Olberman’s tiff with Scaraborough was beyond anything - made Gerardo Rivera look like a gentleman.

Contrary to what is always espoused by the right-wright news machine that news media is on the left, it is really biased on the right and the media has bended towards McCain — yes indeed, the media has always been in the pocket of the right-wing right - now all we have to look forward to is more stations like Fox News 24/7.

Your actions should not surprise anyone because now FOX with Hannity will be able to be the only ones to smear the other side, the left.. Fear not left wing radical supporters on here ! We on the right know this is only a political ploy by Gregory to lull us to sleep in thinking that all of a sudden MSNBC has a soul !! NOT ! You radicals on the left need to understand the difference between a “Smear” and the “TRUTH” !! Obama claims to be a Christian ? However, By his own admission Obama says`he believes “that there is more than one path to get to heaven” ! You cannot be a born again Christian and believe that foolishness ! When we call Obama on his obvious ignorance of True Christianity , it is not a smear , it is the “TRUTH” ; it is exposing a LIE ! Obama and anyone else that cannot provide an “authenticated” FBI verified” Birth Certificate is disqualified from running for the office of President of the USA “TRUTH”. Just because someone gives you the other side of a story that differs from what you radicals have been spoon fed as the gospel by the likes Olbermann and Matthews isn`t a smear . JUSTIFICATION:
The MSM and particularly NBC, CNN and ABCNEWS among others continue to declare that Palin does not have female (or male) supporters despite evidence to the contrary that many women (and males) across many demographics love Gov Sarah Palin including Democrats and previously Hillary suppporters.
To add insult to injury, they smear her family with the most sexist, disgusting and inappropriate remarks.

I just loved watching Chris Mathews and Keith O…I think we should be watching more sarcasm because there’s too much of the old guard (Bush lovers) out there…I am tired of the senile lovers (McCain) thinking that we are getting better treatment than that of what Obama would present to the American public…
That was GREAT!!! However, NBC has a long ways to go to clean up their act before they become “fair and balanced”, i.e., Fox News. They are in the TOILET with Obama’s crap and until they realize they are about to be flushed down the toilet with Obama when he looses the election, they will always be in the TOILET TANK waiting to backup Obama’s next mouth full of crap.
