I once got in trouble for making faces during Koran study classes in my elementary school, but a president is less likely to stereotype Muslims as fanatics — and more likely to be aware of their nationalism — if he once studied the Koran with them.
Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it’ll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”

I’d rather hear the old 1950’s Phillip Morris cigarette commercial, which featured the midget page boy, “Johnny” screaming in his high pitch voice… “Call for Phillip Morris!”…and have it play on a continuous loop ad nauseum.
Yes, Obama is right. It’s really the most beautiful voice one can listen to. One should just open his heart to Quran and Azan to ejoy their beauty.

If it’s a pretty sound at sunset, it can be a very annoying cacaphony the other four times per day the muezzin’s call issues. When some PC cities have permitted these to be sounded through loudspeakers, it has been an infringement on the rights of non-Muslim.
