At New York Fund-Raiser: Obama Says He Might Support Gay Marriage In The Future
Barack Obama attended a private fund-raiser with gay supporters here last week where, according to this account in The Advocate, he spoke about his position on gay marriage.
Obama said he did not think it was “politically feasible” to secure marriage rights for same-sex couples in the country at this point. Sen. Obama acknowledged that the community wanted full marriage rights but said that he favored civil unions for now while leaving open the possibility that his position might evolve in the future.

Obama’s lied already, Obama stated that he was willing to leave it up to each state on granting gay marriage rights and wouldn’t interfere, but was against any type of constitutional amendment, now hes say’s he wants to completely remove the D.O.M.A. act all together, and not leave it up to each state, but force it down all our throats to accept it
Alright, I’m tired of writing thinks out for you silly people, so I’m just going to do translations to perhaps make this difficult passage a little easier to comprehend.
“Barack Obama attended a private fund-raiser with gay supporters here last week where, according to this account in The Advocate, he spoke about his position on gay marriage.” ~~ “Barack Obama went to a private fund-raiser with homosexual supporters, where according to The Advocate he talked about what he personally thought of gay and lesbian marriage.”
“Obama said he did not think it was “politically feasible” to secure marriage rights for same-sex couples in the country at this point.” ~~ “Obama said that from his point of view, at this particular point in time he does not think it’s politically possible to absolutely allow marriage rights for same-sex couples.”
I’ll add something here. I’m under the impression that many people skipped over his saying “at this point” as just a way to stall the process of securing same-sex marriage. However if you think about it, he has a very, very significant point.
It is in fact “at this point” where homosexuals are only just beginning to “come out of the closet” as the phrase is used, and manymanymany hundreds of thousands of people out there, particularly vehemently religious people, are completely opposed to just the idea of homosexuality.
Knowing this as a fact, can anyone even fathom the uproar of protest if the government suddenly allowed same-sex marriage in every state in the US? I don’t even want to imagine it. Many churches probably wouldn’t even want to host any such weddings, not to mention the members of the churches, most of whom grew up knowing the Bible and that God’s word said that homosexuality is a big no-no.
Think about it people. If the world (and the church) would just widen their views, if every person at least in the US could open their minds to encompass such strangely absurd notions as marrying for love instead of marrying for a person’s body (which includes their gender), perhaps such a thing as same-sex marriage would be possible.
Until then, until close-minded religious fanatics can find it in their hearts to truly understand love, America will never be able to change.
If you actually read all that, thanks so much for your time!

“His position might evolve” = “if it’s politically expedient to support, I’ll claim to do so.”
Empty rhetoric, flips and flops, but hey, he might “evolve” into something that isn’t worse than Jimmy Carter ever was. But I’m guessing he’ll end up being much worse than Carter.
