Who was Hiram Rhodes Revels?

Who was Hiram Rhodes Revels and what has this got to do with Barack Obama?

He was the first African American Senator (1870 - 1871). He was also a Republican. It was 122 years later before Democrat had the first black senator, Carol Elizabeth Moseley Braun (1993-1999). First Democrat only 122 years after the first.

Hiram Rhodes Revels (September 27, 1822 – January 16, 1901) was the first African American to serve in the United States Senate. Since he preceded any African American in the House, he was the first African American in the U.S. Congress as well. He represented Mississippi in 1870 and 1871 during Reconstruction. As of 2008, Revels is one of only five African Americans ever to have served in the United States Senate.

The Republicans of 100+ years ago are not the same as today.
Please check your history to find out what they sttod for.

What Republicans stood for 100 years ago is the same today…every person, regardless of color is as American as the next….Democrats founded the KKK a hundreds years ago and used it to lynch thousands of Americans who didn’t stand a chance….
