Fact Check: Obama and the gas taxes
Obama is an hypocrite - Obama voted 3 times for Gas tax relief back in 2000. Now he’s saying no. Obama is a flip-flopper.
Democratic Sen. Barack Obama accuses his presidential rivals of pandering to voters by supporting the “gimmick” of temporarily lifting federal taxes on gasoline, despite his own past support for a similar tax holiday.
THE FACTS:
In 2000, gasoline prices were climbing quickly, reaching $2 a gallon in the Chicago area — a remarkable price back then. Illinois legislators scrambled to offer some election-year relief to angry motorists.
Obama voted three times for a tax holiday.
The version that ended up becoming law required a six-month suspension of the state’s share of the sales tax on gasoline, a 5 percent tax paid directly by consumers rather than gas stations. It also required gas stations to post signs on their pumps saying that the Illinois General Assembly had lowered taxes and the price should reflect that cut.

Where is the new big story on Obama??? He has in one failed swoop undermined his whole campaign platform, and its on tape… His comments about the Teamsters in March, is outrageous.. He told them when he gets in office he will get them the breaks they need.. This is on tape and is going to big the next big story vs Obama.. He said he is gonna change special interests and the old politics, he is now on tape saying the exact opposite, he is going to give them the breaks they need once he is in office for their endorsement.. Just wait til the next couple days, he’s done for now.. He has destroyed his whole campaign platform with this news.. Maybe we will see you in 2016 Obama.. I doubt it thoough, you took the high road and played off on change from old politics and special interests, and now youre caught red handed with your hand in the cookie jar, saying once you get in the White House, youll hook them up.. This is an travesty, this lie here will kill him and his campaign..

Good, then I don’t want to hear anything from liberals about McCain’s decsion to support the Bush tax cuts…
